Innovations that improve performance and protect the environment
Environmentally friendly solutions for the shipping industry have become more and more important. Shipping companies and shipyards have appreciated their value: environmentally friendly ships are both economical and competitive. MacGregor has therefore been focusing on the development of cargo systems that use environmentally friendly electric drives.´
For over 70 years MacGregor has provided the maritime transportation industry with innovative engineering solutions, and its latest is a range of cargo systems that all use environmentally friendly electric drives.
Several years ago we identified a need in the market for these new products. Development policy focused on three main aims: compared with hydraulic systems they had to be environmentally friendly, they had to provide equal or better performance, and the cost had to be the same. Many ideas have been identified and considered, combining this policy and technical feasibility. New electrically-driven equipment includes cranes, rolling hatch covers, a hatch cover stacking device, and RoRo cargo access equipment.
